So every year Paul Mitchell holds an event down in Vegas for Future Professionals (or FP's aka us cosmetology students)called Caper. Caper is an incredible event that is packed full of opportunities for us FP's to get some advance training from the best of the best in the business! Reasons to Support Proposition 8 in Cali!

I got this off of my sister's blog and found it VERY interesting! She also had some video's she'd found about the presidential candidates views on abortion and same sex marriage. If you're interested in seeing them let me know and I'll send you a link. (She just found them on YouTube).

Anyone who knows anyone in California - please read this and copy it onto your blog. I received this in an email, but thought it was worthwhile to post on my blog.
"In a recent LDS Sacrament meeting in California, the focus was on Amendment 8.(The gay marriage issue.) One of the speakers who was an LDS judge in the area, had statistics that were 'mind blowing'.
For example, in Boston, MA (where gay marriages are now legal,) the Catholic Charities have closed their doors because the state has required them to allow adoptions to same sex couples, and they refused.They are a large and worthwhile charity with great power in the state and they were overruled.
A Methodist church has lost their tax exempt status because the minister refused to perform a marriage of a same sex couple (they were not of his congregation).
A physician who refused to do fertility treatments on a same sex couple because of religious reasons was sued, lost and the state is requiring him to treat everyone as equals.
Our schools will be required to teach, starting in kindergarten, that marriages make up many different combinations. The consequences are horrible.
Directly tied into ALL of this is our right to continue to go to the Temple. If Gay Marriage is supported by the government, then those who are same-sex married, who are 'LDS' and legally recognized as married by the government, can sue to be married in the temple. It is my opinion that the church will not bend on this issue, and our rights to go to the temple will be in jeopardy.
AND goodbye to those religious tax-deductions. Tithing, fast offerings,etc. We will lose our tax-exemption status if the government legally forces the church to support same-sex marriage'
These effects are far-reaching! I believe this issue is not apolitical issue at all, but a moral issue that affects all of society.
The Proclamation on the family clearly gives a warning voice on this matter.I pray that this issue on the ballots will overturn the gay marriages occurring right now in that state, and help prevent other states from adopting this stance. I believe that it is important to support and defend traditional marriage, home and family.
Another friend says that her relatives in Sweden are even watching what goes on in California. Friends in Canada are watching.
The whole world is watching to see what happens."

The QUEST for a new tradition!

My sister-in-law, Jana, told me about a Women's Football Clinic BYU held last year and asked if they did it again, would I go? Of course!! Was that really a question that needed to be asked? Well, sure enough she found out when it was that they were having it this year. I do believe we just found a new tradition! It was so much fun. We got some free stuff, a t-shirt, and food. Coach Mendenhall talked to us about the program and we were able to ask some of the players some questions. After all that fun we were able to go outside in the LaVell Edwards Stadium and run some drills. It was a blast!!
By-the-way, I did get the best compliment ever while we were running some tackling drills. We had to side-step over some tackling bags, then actually tackle one that the coach or players were holding up. After I side-stepped and tackled the bag the coach just looked at me and said "You're an athlete aren't you?!" Me having not done too much for the past few years just said "kinda, yeah". He replied with "I can tell". I was so excited! For real, probably the best compliment I've ever received! (I know I'm a nerd, it's cool)

Day's of '47 FuN!

I would have to say that the 24th of July is my favorite holiday. I think it's because of all of the different memories I have of the holiday growing up. Going to Demolition Derby's down in Fairview, followed by fireworks; going up to Liberty Park and hanging out with Uncle Don and Aunt Fay and some of the cousins, then heading over to Liberty Park to watch the fireworks with them, then go back and eat watermelon. . .yum!

This year was just as fun! I slept out on the streets for Monty's 3rd(?) Annual Sleep out on the Street Extravaganza! (haha I think that's what he calls it) ME of all people was the last one to fall asleep. I wasn't able to fall asleep till we actually moved out onto the hard street, which was at 5:30 in the AM, then I slept like a baby till the marathon runners came by. My favorite part of the parade is the motorcycle cops! The Army guys were pretty rad too!

That night I went down to my all time favorite tradition. . .Fairview's Demolition Derby! I LOVE that thing. It's pretty hard to get tickets, unless you have connections. I'm so glad we've got connections! My parents and I, along with my brother Gary and his family (and father-in-law) all went down to it. The two little boys loved every minute of it! Tanner wanted to meet a "race car driver" so bad. We have some old family friends who's boy (that just got home from his mission the beginning of July) was one of the Derby driver's so I was able to take Tanner down into the pit to meet him. He even got to meet the other nice drivers.

That weekend I went up to Monty's cabin. So much fun! We played some Hearts, went down a couple zip lines, and even played in a cargo net! Yes, there was a cargo net in the middle of the woods. Random, but SO much FUN!

DOG!!

I just LOVE Dog the Bounty Hunter! And I am so glad he is back on air! For those of you that aren't familiar with Mr. Duane "Dog" Chapman, he has a reality show on A&E. I got addicted to it very quick. Dog and his family are all bounty hunters over in Hawaii. Last year his show got kicked off air due to some comments he made to his daughter who then turned their conversation (which she recorded) to the press. The press out looking for anything they can get, sure ripped Dog to pieces and made him seem SUPER racist. Dog appeared on Larry King Live and truly felt remorseful. He told his side of the story and apologized a ton. If you've ever seen his show you know he is a good man, who took some of his own wrong turns in life, but has learned from his past and is a very loving man. After the recording came out Dog was no longer on air :`( It was truly a sad day.

No worries everyone, Dog the Bounty Hunter is BACK! I watched one of the new episodes tonight and it truly showed just how loving Dog is. They were working really had to capture this guy who wasn't cooperating. Long story short, they found him at a McDonald's and they took him down, eating his burger and all. After some talking to Dog made Beth, his wife, find another McDonald's on the way to the jail so they could buy their prisoner a quarter-pounder with cheese and some soda. Beth is just as loving as Dog and even threw in an apple pie for the prisoner.

I just hope that some day I can be cool like DOG!! Aloha bra!

"You are meant to be HaPpY!!"

So most of you know that I'm in cosmetology at Paul Mitchell the School. Having to stay during the summer for school was meant to be. The opportunity's I've had this past month have been incredible.
The 1st amazing experience was my opportunity to meet and be a hair model for Mary Brunetti! She is a famous hairdresser that is from NY. We won her by being one of the top 25 schools to raise funds for our annual "Fun"raiser. She spent a lot of time with everyone in the afternoon as she worked her magic, but as one of the models I was able to have quite a bit one-on-one time with her and I will treasure it FoReVeR!

Next, I was able to meet the founder of Paul Mitchell the School (PMTS) Winn Claybaugh. He is, WOW!! He's been an inspirational speaker for many years, and I can definitely see why. He started the school, Von Curtiss, which was very successful and caught the attention of John Paul who then teamed up with Winn to start the PMTS chain. He gave a lot of good insight for the future. The quote for my title is from him. He talked a lot about evaluating yourself right now and where you want to be, and to make a 10% change right now. He said you have to work on happiness TODAY! You must be nice to yourself. And "when your heart sings, everything else can sing!"

George Morales also came that same evening. He is on the Advanced Academy for PMTS. He's a Partner Training Leader, Branding Specialist, and Long Hair Specialist, a Learning Leader and Design Team Learning Leader. He was incredible! He did a some cuts on a couple of the Future Professionals. I learned SO much from him.

There is also a school up in Salt Lake. They were the top school in the "Fun"raiser I talked about earlier. They had the opportunity to have Takashi Kitamura and Mark, from A Robert Cromeans Salon (ARCS) in the Mandalay Bay in Vegas. WOW!! I could sit and watch Takashi cut all day long. It was unreal. He was really quite, and didn't talk much, but his cutting was incredible! So incredible that he charges $250 a haircut! I can only hope to be that amazing one day. I learned so much from Mark (who graduated from PMTS Provo a few years back!) I love it when people relate sports and motorcycles to what I'm doing. It makes the learning process so much easier :o) "Perfect Practice makes Perfect Play!"

I am so grateful for the education I'm getting. It's been a frustrating last little bit seeing all of the girls I started with graduate, and knowing that I still have 1000 hrs to go (I'm only half way done). But all of the opportunities and experiences that I've had the past few weeks have been unforgettable and have really helped me to stay focused.

Heber Valley Camp - The Temple on the Mountain

For those that don't know, I was just recently called to serve with the Young Women in our ward. I am lucky enough to be a Laurel advisor. (My girls are incredible!) This last week was Girl's Camp. I always remember going to girls camp when I was younger and loving every minute of it. So when I was told that I could go up with them, I was more than excited. I was a bit worried since I'm in school and it's really difficult to miss hours, but everything seemed to work out perfect so I could at least go up for a couple days. Can I just say how much more fun it is to go to camp when I'm leader!!

This particular camp that we were at, was bought by the church and developed into an incredible girls camp. (They do let families and other youth use it as well, but the main purpose is for the Young Women) I always remember having to sleep in tents, and we would be lucky if there was water that we didn't have to haul in ourselves. The girls had things a little more on the cushy side this camping trip. They have these fun cabins to stay in, flushing toilets, warm showers (but you're only allowed 2 a week), and these amazing kitchens with large walk-in refrigerators. (It comes in handy so we don't spend so much time preparing food.)

Needless to say I had a blast, even with the late night games of throwing the glow-sticks around the cabin and watching Lori dance on her bed with them. I will never forget the fun times and the incredible experiences!

And another two bite the dust!

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Deven and Steph Capanna!! I love you guys and I wish more than anything that I could have been there for you.

Today two of my good friends tied the knot for time and all eternity in the San Diego temple. I tried so hard to find a way to be there for them, but it just didn't work out. I was lucky enough to receive a picture from my friend, Monty, who was lucky enough to be able to go out for the ceremony. (Monty, the picture made my day! Thanks again!) I do take partial credit for this marriage. Back in the beginning of the year Deven and Steph were just friends. All of us other friends could tell there was something there between the two, but no one dared say anything. They all didn't want to "cross any friendship boundaries". I could have cared less! I ended up sorta playin matchmaker and six months later they finally got hitched!

I love you two! Thanks for letting me play matchmaker. I know that there is no one more perfect for either one of you. Congrats again!

It's a small, SMALL world!

From Friday evening to Sunday evening I realized just how small our little world is. Now I wouldn't normally blog about this, but Melissa said to blog about things I do everyday, which really isn't all that exciting. But this, I definitely thought this was crazy enough to put on here.

So Friday night I went to a bridal shower for my good friend Steph (I know her through her soon-to-be hubby, Capanna. Since he was a mission buddy of my cousin I became good friends with him. I even sorta got the ball rolling for the two. Anyway. . .). While there I found out that Steph's cousin Missy is neighbors with Elisabeth's Uncle Marlin and Aunt Ilene. It was actually Missy's house that Marlin and Ilene lived at just after their house burned. I've come to know Marlin and Ilene pretty well since I've been on quite a few family outings with Elisabeth, and I've even stayed with Marlin and Ilene when me and Elisabeth would go up to Ogden to play.
Well, Saturday at school we had a "Princess Party". A couple of the cute little girls happen to go to Challenger school where my friend Harper teaches. Sure enough they totally knew him! (And they couldn't stop talking about how much they love "Mrs. Harper" and that they think he is so funny! I guess the "Mrs. Harper" is a fun little joke between Harper and some of the kids.)
Sunday I end up getting a couple phone calls which ended up resulting with the fact that my good friend Layce, who I go to school with, is engaged to, my other good friend, Park, his cousin. (Park is also one of my cousins mission buddies)
Then on Sunday night I was at Capanna's grandma's cutting Steph's hair and trying some different styles to see what she liked for the wedding when his Grandma wanted me to go to the door and meet someone. This someone happened to be a second cousin of mine who lives across the street from her.
As big as this world may seem, it is definitely pretty dang small!

Another one bites the dust!

Thursday July 10th my BFFAE, Elisabeth, got married. I'm not going to lie, it was a little bitter sweet. She looked AMAZING! The day started off bright and early (well at least for the bride, and anything before noon is considered early for me). I don't think she could have picked a better day. It was bright and sunny all day long! Her and Alex got married in the Bountiful Temple and they were lucky enough to be able to have her Grandpa marry them. (Since we were little, that has been a dream of hers to have him marry her to her husband. With his health not the best for the past many years, no one knew if he'd still be around or even able to seal them.) From everyone that was able to attend the ceremony they all said he did an amazing job! They both looked so happy and in love when they came out. It was awesome!

At the luncheon both her and Alex had some family members talk about them. It's fun to hear about your friends from those who know them the best. It was a lot of fun and everything looked and tasted amazing.

After that we headed to the reception center to help get things set up. I don't know if everything turned out how Elisabeth wanted, but it all looked incredible to me! By the look on Elisabeth's face when they went to leave the reception, apparently Elisabeth didn't know what Alex had up his sleeve. A gorgeous limo was outside waiting for them! It was an amazing day and I'm glad that I've been able to have Elisabeth as my friend for 23 years (and six months). I couldn't have pick a better friend and I'm more than excited to have Alex as a new friend. I haven't seen any other guy treat her better than he does and I know that he is more than perfect for her. Congratulations BFFAE!

I can't believe I'm really doing this. . .

I feel totally out of place with one of these things. (I'm not going to lie, I'm totally procrastinating preparing my lesson for tomorrow.) I am letting you know right now that I probably won't be on here posting updates very often. I feel totally awkward even making this blog as it is. Isn't this place for all the married couples with families, so they can show off how cute their kids are? The only reason I'm doing this is because I have too many friends all blogging and I don't know how else to keep track of everyone's life.
